About Hungary Eye:

I'm Karl Peter Kirk, founder and head of investigations at Hungary Eye Info Kft.

I've been working across Central Europe since 1987 — nearly four decades on the ground here. I started as a journalist, not an investigator, and that distinction matters: it means I learned early how to verify a fact, follow a paper trail, and tell the difference between a source who knows something and one who just wants to talk. I spent ten years with Hungarian Radio's English-language service, two of them as head of English broadcasting, then wrote for British dailies through the Central European News agency in Vienna, and later served as the Associated Press correspondent in Budapest. By the time I moved into investigative work, I already understood this region — its languages, its institutions, and how things actually get done here — better than most people who'd only ever worked as investigators.

For more than 20 years now, that's exactly what I've done. I founded Hungary Eye Bt, which became Hungary Eye Info Kft in 2023, built on the same principle that shaped my journalism: get it right, get it documented, and get it to the client in a form they can actually use and act on.

Credentials that back up the work:

I'm licensed and certified as a professional investigator in Hungary, and I hold additional certification from ZAD in Berlin, one of Germany's most respected investigator training institutes. On the academic side, I hold an MSc in Criminology from the University of Portsmouth's Institute of Criminal Justice Studies and an MA in Central European Politics and History from the School of Slavonic and East European Studies in London, alongside PhD-level studies in Psychology in Hungary, further study in Central European and German history at Humboldt University in Berlin, and a BA (Hons) in Humanities from Teesside University.

I stay active in the profession, not just in it. I regularly attend seminars and industry events in Hungary, Germany, and the UK, I'm involved with the International Federation of Private Detective Associations (IKD), and I've served on the executive board of the Hungarian Detective Association (HDA).
