consultants:
Peter Kirk B.A.(Hons), M.A. (director)
After taking a first degree in History of Ideas, Peter specialized in Central Europe with higher level studies at the Humboldt University in Berlin and an MA from London University's prestigious School of Slavonic and East European Studies. He then continued his research interests at the University of Pecs in Hungary.
Gaining experience of hard-line regimes in East Germany and Czechoslovakia in the late 1980s, Peter came to then still Socialist Hungary as a journalist in 1988 - just in time to witness the dramatic transition to democracy throughout the region.
Peter was appointed director of English-language broadcasting at Hungarian Radio in 1997, before moving on to cover Hungary, Romania and occasionally Austria and Serbia for major British newspapers through Vienna-based Central European News. He also contributed to investigations into the Russian mafia for the Sunday Times and the BBC's flagship 'Panorama' programme before joining the American news agency Associated Press.
He has worked throughout the region as a freelance investigator for several international consultancies and founded Hungary Eye in 1999. He is a qualified and licensed private investigator.
Fluent in Hungarian and German, he also speaks Romanian.
Other members of our team specialize in Romania, Moldova, Czech Republic, and Slovakia.
